Himesh Reshammiya in a burkha at Ajmer Sharif

Himesh Reshammiya has been doing the rounds of various religious places to make sure that all his efforts in his debut film Aap Ka Surroor-The Real Love Story are well-received at the box-office.

After visiting Shirdi on Monday, Himesh went to the holy tomb of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer on Tuesday. Little did Himesh know that it would turn out to be a controversial visit. As it happened, the singer-turned-actor visited the dargah wearing a burkha, which created quite a stir.

Himesh says, “I really did not intend to visit the dargah wearing a burkha. But by the time I reached there, word had obviously spread and there was a crowd of over 10,000 people waiting. It became impossible for me to get out of the car. I had to leave from there because of the chaos. That's when the dargah's khadim (caretaker) suggested that I use a burkha.

That's how I entered the dargah wearing a burkha. However, if I have hurt anyone's sentiments, then I sincerely apologise.

The matter has now been resolved and everything is fine.”
